Understanding Our Standard

What is Regenified?

Regenified is an annual land verification and product certification program for farmers, ranchers, and brands selling into the regenerative agriculture supply chain.

Certified Regenified™ clarifies to buyers and consumers that your product traces back to verified practices and outcomes focused on improving soil health.

The 6-3-4™
Standard

Regenified’s 6-3-4™ verification standard for regenerative agriculture is grounded in rigorous science, practical experience, and time-tested ecological principles. Through this standard, we have certified over 1M acres for farms, ranches, forestlands, and brands since 2022.

The standard measures continuous progress in regenerative systems, both practices and outcomes, through the framework of the six principles of soil health, three rules of adaptive stewardship, and four ecosystem processes.

See our Full Standards

From Practices to Outcomes

Farmers and ranchers who know and adjust to their context, minimize soil disturbance, maintain armor and living roots, enhance biodiversity, and integrate grazing animals are actively restoring soil health and building more resilient ecosystems.

We verify and document this process of improvement through 65+ data points gathered annually during boots-on-the-ground field visits on your farm, plus soil lab testing. Regenified is the first regenerative certifier approved by the USDA’s AMS Process Verified Program.

Applying The Principles

Measuring Your Outcomes

Certifying Your Journey

Regenified

Regenified verifies and evaluates the effectiveness of how you are applying the six soil health principles across your farm.

We measure the ecosystem outcomes you are achieving for the energy cycle, water cycle, mineral cycle, and biological diversity through data collection in the fields and testing in the lab.

We review all data and improvement opportunities with you. If your operation meets our standards, you will receive a tier placement between 1 and 5.

Verifying and Valuing
Your Regenerative Impact

Our 6-3-4 standard is an adaptable roadmap to increase any given agricultural operation’s ecological and economic resilience through soil health. We use it to meet farmers where they are with objective, practical, and thorough protocols to examine and explain the regenerative outcomes they’re driving. We certify those that meet our standards so they can benefit in the growing regenerative marketplace.

Continuous improvement is required—you can’t stand still in our program. Moving up through the tiers at least every three years is achieved by applying regenerative practices to larger areas of the operation, meeting progressively higher evaluation criteria, and your soil test results. Tier 5, the highest tier, requires rigorous management to achieve year over year impact.

Your Land, Your Stewardship

Our tiered certification accounts for your unique operation and your goals and reflects how your current practices and outcomes align with Regenified standards. Simply put, it’s about what you’re doing to advance ecosystems on your land, and helping you get recognized for the impact of your efforts.

Recognizing the Difference Makers

Whether you’re just starting to implement regenerative principles or you’ve been prioritizing soil health for decades, there’s a place for you in our community with support to help you take the next step in your journey.

Knowledge is Power, Data is Clarity

Your verification results and tier award bring clarity to your regenerative journey, helping you track your progress and giving you a hard data backup to prove your claims in the market. Regenified certification provides transparency and credibility to attract customers and partners that value superior quality.

A Grass-Roots Community of Leaders

Regenified is a community of leaders committed to growing the regenerative supply chain at scale to benefit farms and ecosystems everywhere. Together, we are learning, sharing, and building a brighter future for agriculture from the ground up.

Tier Qualification Criteria

To determine your tier, we analyze all of the operational and soil health data we collect through annual field visits on your farm and lab testing through the lens of specific standards for the type of operation you run and our tier-specific guidelines. You can download our full agricultural standards here.

Your tier and certification award aligns to the current stage of your regenerative journey, allowing you to accurately assess your progress and communicate the difference you are making to the outside world. Tier 2 qualified and above producers can claim Certified Regenified status and use our official seal in the marketplace.

Click on the tier badges below to view a summary of the progressive requirements at each tier.

Continuous improvement to move up to the next tier level within three years is required.

Frequently Asked Questions

What types of operations does Regenified verify?

We verify cropland, rangeland, forestry, and other land types across the U.S. and internationally. Our team has conducted verifications in over 10 countries to date.

What if my operation changes year-to-year?

Our framework adapts to your context. Any updates, such as new practices or shifts in land use, will be factored into your upcoming verification, tier ranking, soil health results, and path forward.

Does verification guarantee certification?

Farms that enter our program at Tier 1 cannot claim certification, but are permitted to claim that they have “formally taken steps to implement regenerative principles and practices.” Tier 2 and higher operations are officially recognized as ‘Certified Regenified’ and can use our seal on their packaging.

What products qualify to be certified by Regenified?

Regenified certifies products sourced from farming and ranching operations that employ regenerative practices. This encompasses a wide range of agricultural products, including crops, livestock, and more.

What is Regenified measuring during the process?

During field verification visits, we measure and document the flow of water into the soil, the quantity of ground cover, plant canopy, and plant diversity, soil biologic activity, soil condition including compaction layers, root rhizosheaths, fauna populations, the body condition/health of livestock, and many other factors that indicate for regenerative soil health practices and ecosystem outcomes.

What in field and in lab testing is done during the process?

In-field tests include: single-ring infiltrometer, line-point intercept, soil odor scoring, penetrometer, and livestock body condition scoring. Lab soil testing includes: Haney Test, PLFA Test, Total Carbon with Bulk Density Test, Aggregate Stability, and Water Holding Capacity.

What are the verification standards for regenerative forestry?

The 6-3-4™ Verification Standard for Regenerative Forestry reflects the use of practical forestry management and research on regenerative forestry practices. Please review our Verification Standard for Regenerative Forestry.

What are the verification standards for supply chain partners?

Participation and recognition for processors is critical to having a robust supply of Certified Regenified products that can be made available to consumers. Regenified welcomes the opportunity to engage with storage, handling, processing, and manufacturing facilities and provide recognition of progress in support of regenerative agriculture. Please review our Regenified Supply Chain Certification Program (RSCCP).
